Welcome to Plum Mustang MTB, a National Interscholastic Sanctioned Mountain Bike team! We are part of the Pennsylvania Interscholastic Cycling League.

Grades 6th to 12th are eligible!

Joining the Team is a TWO PART PAYMENT Process.  The Local Team Fee is $150.00. Payment can be made by Check to:

You must be a Plum Borough School District Student to register!

 

The second part of the payment will be made directly to NICA in the Pit Zone. 

This payment will only be made directly to NICA. I will send you an “invite” to register your athlete in the Pit Zone at NationalMTB.org. You will have several choices when registering your athlete. You can choose a “season pass” which will get you the entire season of events, races and adventure rides. The second option is “ala carte”. You pay a base fee then pay for each event as you go. The first option is the most cost effective.

 

You can not practice with the team until both payments are made. The NICA portion of the payment is your “cycling license” to be in the league.

Registration opens for athletes on 4/1. Team registration will close on 6/1/2024. This will ensure time for me to place the jersey order in time for the start of the season. 

Practices will start the first week of July at Boyce Park. We will meet at the Silver Beaver Parking lot off of New Texas Road/New Pickle Ball Courts. Practice will be held Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6-8 PM. Times will adjust as daylight grows shorter. Our season ends 11/1.

Your son or daughter will need a mountain bike, helmet, water bottle or backpack hydration, tool kit/tube, proper riding shoes and gloves. If you have questions about equipment, I am here to help. We offer team discounts for bike purchases and equipment here at The Bike Lab. Department store bicycles will not hold up to the rigors of actual Mountain Biking. Please consult with us to guide you through a purchase of a bicycle. Bike purchases are not required to be made at The Bike Lab, but we appreciate the business and you will get a discount! We do a lot to support the sport of youth mountain biking.

Races will start at the beginning of September. There are usually 5-6 races across the state. One is local at Boyce Park and others as far away as Blue Mountain across the state and Fairhill Maryland! Racing is fun but NOT a requirement. There is a race in Johnstown and Gettysburg as well!

 

WE NEED YOU! We can not do this alone. We will need positions filled with the team for:  

• Coaches (We need them ASAP!)
• Fundraising coordinator for team supplies/coaching reimbursement 
• Banquet assistance
• Travel coordinator 
• Social Media Assistance 
• Equipment manager/assistance 
• Designated reporter for injuries to NICA (5 -10 min weekly)
• Assistant Director 
• Head coach High school/Middle school 

Please Download “Teamsnap” to your phone. I have created a Teamsnap Account that we will use for all team communications, practice updates and weather related cancellations. Please become familiar with it. Once you have paid all of the team fees, you will be added to the Teamsnap account. As the season gets underway, it is IMPERATIVE you monitor Teamsnap. Practices will change due to race schedules and weather!
